Boxer shorts were a straightforward invention but the idea was missed for ages. Putting elastic in the waistband of shorts sounds straightforward but it was this feature that revolutionised men’s underwear and brought what we now know as the boxer short. There has been a war on since the 1930’s between the boxer shorts and briefs. It is a personal preference but with men’s underwear being much more diverse and varied now there is definitely an argument for the boxer short which has been made famous with some of the most memorable advertsements over the last few decades like the infamous Levi's stripping ad.

So it is the shape of the underwear that makes the boxer short a short and the elasticated waistband. Boxer shorts can either be loose or tight and can vary in length. This offers a style for everyone especially when an infinite amount of colour, prints and patterns are used to individualise and personalise men’s underwear.
